What's On - Swanning Weekend Events

Our celebration of all things “swan” makes for a perfect spring getaway weekend for couples and the kids, music lovers and drama aficionados and those who appreciate fine cuisine.

It all starts on Saturday. March 29th.

Spend the day browsing through Stratford’s heritage shopping district all dressed with spring window displays and special swan merchandise for collectors and bird lovers alike. Pick up a swan hat as a free souvenir of the weekend! Make sure you take time for lunch at one of our restaurants offering special spring menus. Check out some of the stores here.

Speaking of browsing, take time to sneak an advance peek at the stage maquettes for the upcoming season of plays and musicals at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival – previews start April 23rd, Shakespeare’s birthday with Adrian Noble’s production of Hamlet. It is the perfect time to book your tickets!

The evening is devoted to great company, wonderful food and musical concerts at a number of fine venues. Mix and mingle with music lovers over wonderful menus created by some of Stratford’s top chefs. Go to Soirees for more details.

Sunday, continue the grandeur

A great way to start of the day is with breakfast – or an early brunch in one of Stratford’s restaurants or hotel dining rooms.

Then wander along the Avon River in the crisp spring air and visit the shops that add to making Stratford a great place to spend some time.

NOTE: As a result of an abnormally harsh winter, large areas of heavy ice and snow remain on the Avon River blocking the free-flow of water.  Swans require open water for a healthy habitat without which their spring nesting may be compromised. Therefore, to protect the swans, the planned ceremonial release on March 30th will not take place.
