Summer is sunshine, fresh air and family time - away from “teachers’ dirty looks” – it’s THE time to hang out with kids – whether it’s your own, your relatives or your grandkids! Jump into the car and get out for play time. For those of us living in big cities, summer is the perfect time to get away and connect with sunshine and blue sky — to appreciate what green really means!

  • Visit the Costume and Props Warehouse and pretend — for the girls there are gowns, capes, hats with feathers and beaded cloaks — and for the boys, crowns, beards, fake weapons and blood — even a rotting head on a plate!
  • Enjoy some outdoor fun along the river. Paddle among the swans on the Avon River or board the Juliet III and let Avon Boat Rentals be your guide.
  • Drop by our Information Centres to pick up your Justin Bieber map of Stratford to explore his favourite haunts.
  • Take an outing to a farm to see the animals and smell the fresh air. Visit McCully’s Hill Farm to discover where the food in the grocery store comes from and take a horse-drawn hay wagon tour. Stop by Megens Family Farm, Walch’s Strawberries and Sheldon Berries to pick your own berries, but leave some to take home!
  • Then drop by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum to see the contribution Canada has made to a favourite summer sport or Wildwood Conservation Area to hike the trails and picnic. Or how about a refreshing dip into Canada’s largest spring-fed swimming pool, the Quarry, in St. Marys?
  • As you motor through the countryside keep your eyes open for Amish farms and horse drawn buggies and food stalls along the way.

Don’t forget to sample great country cooking in family restaurants and organic farm markets. We've got lots of ice cream parlours and candy shops — or browse and play in our great bookshops and toy stores chock-full of jokes, puzzles and nifty novelties.
