All Day Attractions

Local Perth County farmers and artisans market along the Avon River and Veterans Drive. Farmers from the Stratford Farmers’ Market and the Slow Food Food Farmers’ Market come together to celebrate local fresh food at the annual Savour Stratford Festival – families are encouraged to shop for their weekly groceries at the market. A Real Food Challenge will be presented to the families of Stratford through a local media campaign – asking them to pledge to grow fresh real food (with the tools they get a Savour Stratford) or buy at least 10% of their real fresh food at the Savour Stratford Farmer’s Market. We challenge the families to pass it on – to inspire their neighbours, their friends and school mates to take part in the Real Food Challenge. From 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Cash only.
Local bands and musical artists perform in the open-air in the Bandshell on Veterans Drive from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. See schedule of performances below. Join the Carnivale of street performers and buskers along York Street and Veterans Drive

Living Salad Bar: Forage and harvest your salad from our Living Salad Bar Garden with Stuart and the students of Stratford Central Secondary School Garden Project.

Opening Ceremony

This weekend kicks off with a toast to Stratford and Perth County's culinary excellence! Addresses from Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson and Stratford Tourism Executive Director Eugene Zakreski. Please join us and Celebrity Chef Chuck Hughes as he cuts the ceremonial cheese and welcomes everyone to this two day Culinary Adventure.

Best Chef Challenge

Expect to be wowed by the culinary creations prepared by Perth County talent.

Don Wyness will demonstrate that sprouts and delicious shoots can be grown almost anywhere.  All participants will go home with a sprouting kit with everything needed to start their own nutritious and healthy greens.

Learn the flavours of whiskey and where they come from. McLagan's books fat and Bones have garnered top prizes in the food writing world, with fat winning the James Beard Cookbook of the Year.

Knife Skills for the Home Cook

Demonstrated by Jamie Rowland, Knife Skills Specialist, Zwilling J.A. Henckels - Having sharp kitchen knives at home can make all the difference to the enjoyment of cooking, but do you know how to properly maintain your knives? Visit this enlightening demonstration to learn the art of honing and sharpening your knives at home to ensure their peak performance. The session will also include a discussion of key knife shapes and their uses, plus a skills session featuring Stratford Chef School students who will demonstrate how to properly dice, chop and chiffonade. Audience members will have an opportunity to participate and there will be a raffle where attendees can win Zwilling J.A. Henckels products. The Zwilling J.A. Henckels Complete Book of Knife Skills will be on sale at the event for $19.95 (regularly $34.95).

Join us Saturday for a new event, Ribs in the Square, a southern BBQ rib dinner in the heart of Stratford, the historic Market Square with musical guests, The Blurry Pickers. The community is invited pull up a seat at our long, communal table, to celebrate the quintessential flavours of Perth County with a harvest dinner.
The seasonal menu of will be prepared by the multi-award-winning Boss Hogs BBQ team, voted "Ontario's Best Ribber", and current defenders of the "Canadian BBQ Team" title!
