Environment - Eco-friendly practices at the festival

The Savour Stratford Perth County Culinary Festival recognizes that the environment feeds the food that feeds us. The cleaner the earth, the cleaner our food.

Savour Stratford vendors have been asked to use biodegradable and recyclable (or edible) cups, plates and utensils. Chefs involved in the Savour Stratford Tasting event are asked to create waste-free samples.

We'd like your help in minimizing waste at this year's festival. Please bring your own reusable water bottles to stay hydrated and reusable bags to tote away all of your treasures from the farmers' and artisans' markets. We are pleased to partner with One Care to offer a "Grocery Bag Check" so you can stash your purchases safely while you enjoy the festival. Suggestion donation: $1.00.

The festival is centrally located in Stratford, making it accessible by foot or bike. If a bicycle is your preferred mode of transportation, see the map for bicycle parking areas provided by Totally Spoke'D.

Savour Stratford Perth County Culinary Festival is bullfrogpowered with 100% green electricity. Bullfrog Power will inject renewable electricity onto the local or regional grid to match our event’s usage. Bullfrog’s electricity comes exclusively from wind and hydro facilities that have been certified as low impact by Environment Canada under its EcoLogoM program, instead of from polluting sources like coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear. To learn more about Bullfrog Power, and newly introduced green natural gas, please visit bullfrogpower.com.

Support Savour Stratford Collectible Buttons

The Savour Stratford Culinary festival is now in its fourth year and is supported by government and municipal grants, sponsorship and community partners. For a complete list of our partners, please visit our Festival Friends.
The Festival programming relies on the generosity of the Stratford and Perth County communities to create a successful event. New this year, our Festival guests and attendees are encouraged to donate $5 at the festival gates to support the programming in return for a Savour Stratford 2011 collectible button. Our aim is to create a sustainable event which celebrates Stratford and Perth County's unique combination of character, culture and cuisine.

Buy Local Share Local Program

The Stratford House of Blessing is hosting the Buy Local Share Local initiative which provides fresh produce for those who access the local food bank. Support our food bank by purchasing fresh food at the Savour Stratford market and donating it to the Buy Local Share Local program. Look for their kiosk along the Avon River during the Festival.
